MUMBAI: Veteran Indian Classical vocalist Pandit Jasraj breathed his last on August 17. He was 90 and died of cardiac arrest at his home in New Jersey, US. Everyone from President Ram Nath Kovind to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and celebrities from the Indian music industry to other B'Town celebs paid their tributes to him.
Offering her condolences, producer Binaifer Kohli recalled the time she met Pandit Jasraj on his 88th birthday. The late music maestro was a big fan of her show "Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!", and his daughter, Durga Jasraj, had planned to surprise him by inviting the cast to join the celebration. It was an honour for the team of "Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!" too. Rekha Gaur Rohitashv Gour, Deepesh Bhan, writer Purnendu Shekhar, writer Manoj Santoshi are seen in the photograph besides Ace producer Benaifer Kohli.

She posted a pic from that meeting on her Instagram handle and wrote, "RIP India's respected music legend. Respected Shri Pandit Jasraj Ji loved our show 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain!'. We were called to his birthday as a surprise. What an honour. He narrated his favourite scenes from our show. We are blessed."
Binaifer shared that she learnt to be the young heart from Pandit Jasraj Ji and expressing her grief on his demise, she said, "It was very saddening to hear the news of his demise. We lost a great artist. Our condolences to the family."
In a career spanning of over eight decades, the late music maestro enthralled the audience with many of his stage performances. He was a recipient of the Padma Shri - India's fourth-highest civilian award. He was conferred with the Sangeet Natak Akademi Award in 1987 and Padma Bhushan in 1999. He even received the Padma Vibhushan - India's second-highest civilian award - in 2000.
