When he entered the screen as Dr Ahmedi in Dibakar Banerjee’s just released flick Shanghai, everyone watched in absolute awe and admiration. Yes, we are talking about the megastar of West Bengal, Prosenjit Chatterjee. Till date he has featured in more than 300 films and has even bagged the coveted National Award for his performance in the Bengali movie, Dosor. But recently, he made a transition from movies to tube and has donned the mantle of an anchor. Prosenjit is currently anchoring a show called, Banglar Sera Poribaar airing on Zee Bangla. “It went on air from 7 June and 8 June (2012) Shanghai released. So I have had a really exciting last week. I have got a wonderful feedback for my role in Shanghai and guess what…people have loved me as an anchor too,” beamed handsome and dashing Prosenjit. So why this delayed foray into television? “Well, the channel has been approaching me for more than three years now with the concept and I gave a nod only when I was convinced. Television is a great medium but I never had time earlier. Now, I have slowed down a bit and do lesser films in a year. So I have more time to focus on other things. I believe myself to be a perfectionist and just can’t do anything for the sake of it. If I have taken up this project, I will give my heart and soul into it.” The good-looking actor further went to share that though he has taken up a show on TV, he is not keen on doing daily soaps. “People will like to watch me in a daily soap for some days but then I will become just another regular face on television. The awe which people feel after watching a star will diminish, which is not good for my movies.” So what about a show like Bigg Boss? “Why not? I would love to do it. I have always been open to my fans. There is nothing to hide. I am basically a very simple person who has the hunger to learn more and conquer greater heights. I don’t run behind money or fame. Good work is something which gives me a kick. I will take up anything which excites me.” Prosenjit keeps busy a lot but whenever he gets time he does watch television. “I am watching Aamir’s Satyamev Jayate. He is doing a great job by drawing mass attention towards issues which are a concern for the society. At the end of the day, as actors and public figures, we do have certain responsibilities. We all should play our part in making this world a better place to live.” Well said, Prosenjit. Have a great life ahead!!!
