What can the audience expect from a Rajshri production’s banner? What can the audience expect from a Rajshri production’s banner? Obviously, the answer would be “a large family, sugar coated love story, traditional values, relationships, vamps and so on.” Well, all these ingredients are undoubtedly included in Star Plus’ offering Pyaar Ka Dard Hai Meetha Meetha Pyaara Pyaara. But, along with these, the makers have also given a new touch that one can relate to in its very first episode. They have taken recourse of a social networking site called frienddosti.com to explore how social networking sites are so popular amongst younger generation these days. The Rajshris have successfully executed the concept with the help of two individuals (Pakundi and Aditya), who have different upbringings and opposite views towards relationship. The opening scene, that has been shot in picturesque Shimla, has the lead actress Pankudi (Disha Parmar) introducing herself with the song Neel Gagan Ki Pari Hun, Hari Mann Bari Hun Mein Kini Pankudi Hun… being played in the background. Pankudi is heading towards her house passing by a cyber café where she meets her cousin who is busy chatting on frienddosti.com. She taunts Pakhudi for not being active on such a networking site and thereby having no access to many friends. Pakundi explains her cousin about true love and relationships which does not need such sites to blossom and make friends overseas and moves towards her house where the entire family is gearing up to celebrate the 25th wedding anniversary of Pakhudi’s parents. The next scene shows Aditya busy chatting on frienddosti.com, making friends and ignoring his family. So busy is he that his grandfather Purushottam Diwan (Mukesh Khanna), who was waiting on the dining table to have lunch with his grandson, ends up having food alone. Rajshri, being one of the best production houses on big screen, leaves no stone unturned on the small screen for their perfect, up to the mark, directions. The dialogues are convincing as they change with the scenes alternating between Mumbai to Himachal Pradesh. Not to forget after that after a long time, the Rajshris have included some elements from Maine Pyaar Kiya like the badminton court and its audience that includes the household help outs (driver, gardener, security guards, cleaner) at Aditya’s place, whereas Pakhudi’s cha cha- cha chi (uncle-aunt) sharing Prem and Suman chemistry with the songs playing from the movie. Both the actors (Nakuul-Disha) make for a fresh couple. The serial might click with the audience as its promos are also leaving an open end for the chemistry of the leads to blossom in the coming future. With regards to the character of Purushottam Diwan, it marks a remarkable return for Mukesh Khanna on TV. Somehow Paintal’s character of Pankhudi’s grandfather does not match with his popular name. A few surprises lie in store as they see Rita Bhaduri’s young and beautiful portrait on the wall as Pankhudi’s grandmother (who is no more) and the return of Junior Mehmood on small screen. In a nutshell, Pyaar Ka Dard… is a mixture of fresh and seasoned faces. While there are Nakuul Mehta and Disha Parmar on one side, the other side has seasoned actors like Mukesh Khanna, Paintal, Junior Mehmood, Mansi Salvi. Love stories with contrasting personalities are getting popular by the day. On this front, Pyaar Ka Dard… has a good future, as without revealing the next development, the show easily leaves the audience glued to the show that might bring them back the next day.
