Maverick Productions’ Pyar Ya Dehshat, on Reliance Big Magic channel, which is anchored by Anuj Saxena and Nausheen Sardar Ali, has been showing atrocities that women face in the Northern part of the country and how they fight the crime and eventually stand up for themselves.
With the auspicious days of Navratri already here, the show will have a Navratri special sequence, in which issues like Sati, dowry death, widow re-marriage among many other things will be shown in different episodes. And for the same, renowned names from the television industry have been brought on board.
Soni Singh from Pratigya will essay the role of Manu, a divorcee. Shares Soni, “Well, it’s a very interesting concept as I have seen so many people with disloyal husbands. With the barriers of society around, they aren’t able to voice their opinions and are forced to live with the husbands who cheat upon their wives. In this particular episode on Sati, I play a strong character who will fight till the end. Neither, have I read the screenplay nor have I shot, but I am looking forward to it.”
Ahsaas Channa of Kabhi Alvida Na Kehna and My Friend Ganesha fame essays the role of Jankee. She will be seen in an episodic that will showcase child marriage. Shares Ahsaas, “I will be married to a guy much older than me and will want to study, but my parents will decide to wed me off. I will have no choice but to marry him. He will bash me up and I will have to stay with him. But, I will fight for myself.”
Furthermore, Vindhya Tiwari who was seen in Maryada, will feature in an episode based on stree dhan (wife’s wealth). She will be seen portraying the character Banita. On the other hand, Jayashree Venketaramanan of Beend Banoongaa Ghodi Chadhunga fame, will feature in an episodic on widow remarriage in which her character name will be Suhasisni.
Avers Jayshree, “It’s a very nice story wherein I will be married but shall lose my husband soon. Seeing me alone, my mother-in-law will dump me like garbage and will not even let me meet my son whereas my only wish would be to meet my kid. One day a young man will come up to me wanting to marry me to make my life better.”
Supriya Kumari, who was last seen in Bairi Piya on Colors, essays the role of Savitri in this episode based on Sati and lastly, Priyamvada Kant, last seen in Hamari Saas Leela on Colors, will portray the role of Santoshi in an episode based on polygamy.
Shares producer Anuj Saxena, “Well, it was the channel’s call and I decided to bring in known faces who are from the northern region. By that things became more realistic.” Talking about the issues, he avers, “Yes, through my show, one can only curb down the issues in metro cities, while we cannot eradicate them.”
Today onwards, the Navratri special will start airing at 10.30 pm.
