MUMBAI: Television serial makers seem to currently favour shows that are driven by a solid social message. All set to premier in January is a new show. Rishtey is launching its first-ever original show titled Navrangi Re produced by Swastik Productions.
The show is based around urban sanitation and set in a crammed neighborhood in North India. It will see a handful of known faces from the television industry.
Vishwaas (Aamir Ali) will be seen playing a television journalist along with actors like Sushmita Mukherjee, Raju Kher, and Vaishnavi Dhanraj.
Sources confirm that talented actress Maleeka R. Ghai, who is known for her character of Bhadra Maa (Chandrakanta) along with Lapataganj (Sab TV) fame Rakesh Srivastava will now join the cast. Maleeka will play Chirounji Devi, wife of a halwai, played by Rakesh.
TellyChakkar got in touch with the actress, who said, ‘I am very excited to be a part of show, as I have always wanted to be a part of Swastik Productions. Where mostly we have got to see old shows being rerun on Rishey channel, I get to be a part of the first ever original show on the channel, which has given me a chance to work with Siddharth Kumar Tewary, and I am very excited about it.’
Maleeka also confirmed that Rakesh will be playing her husband. ‘You will always see my character cribbing and nagging about spending as less money as possible. She is a dominating wife who has made her husband frustrated with her miserly nature,’ shares the actress about her character in the show.
‘I simply loved meeting Siddharth Kumar Tewary, as it applaudable to see how his team functions with a great precision under his guidance,’ she concluded.
