What inspired you to write poetry?
The current state of the entertainment industry and its obsession with numbers is something I have been reflecting over a long period. I realised that we are victims as well as culprits in this state of affairs. I felt it’s important to connect our self worth as artists to our craft, and not the numbers game. This is the real reason I decided to write a poem titled ‘Aankde’.
Are you apprehensive to get back to work in the pandemic?
The lockdown is not bad. In fact, it has given us a fantastic chance to go within ourselves. I feel, for once in our lives, we are not a part of the eternal rat race. This time gave me an opportunity to do something different. That’s why I turned to writing. Shishir Samant gave music to the poem and my friend Varun Gupta encouraged me to present it well. We shot the entire video at my residence and Varun got a fantastic team together.
