Rupesh Sonar reveals how technology has changed casting world

MUMBAI: Television casting director and coordinator has been a well known name in the world of television. His body of work, which spans over 20 years, has discovered the best talent in the industry.

Looking back at his journey, Rupesh recalls how technology has made things easier for everyone now. Although his starting was very different.

"I started my journey at a time when mobiles had just come. Now things are so easy. Earlier we used to take photos and portfolio of talent and go from one production house to another. Now Instagram and whatsapp has come, things have become easier," he says.

With the growing platforms and opportunities for youngsters and so much exposure, aspiring actors also have a different approach.

"Now the new kids are used to making tik tok videos and everything. They might be hesitant in going to studios but as very confident facing the camera. So, they bave become accustomed to making videos from home and sending. Specially in the lockdown time, they have the chance to send audition tapes from their hometowns and not physically be present," he says.
