Star plus's afternoon show Saarrthi would be infused with a fresh story-line in the coming episodes. The step is being taken to pack more drama in the plot that resembles the epic story of Mahabarata in more than one ways. The fresh plot would witness an introduction of a new family in the show---The Parekhs. And interestingly, the lead protagonist Bhumika (Neha Devi Singh) is being replaced by the new comer Jhalak Thakkar aka Devika. Jhalak makes her debut with Saarrthi, as a widowed bahu. She along with her 4 year old son is the heart and soul of the Parekh family. Elaborating on the current track changes in the show, Producer Asit Modi says, "We have reached the 500 episode mark so we thought it's time to introduce some major changes in the show. I definitely didn't want to take the leap route since it's very common nowadays. So we have a very dramatic track unfolding in the show." Director of the show Sacchin Deo adds,"The story would now move from the Goenka house to the Parekh family. We'll also see the entry of new actors like Anang Desai, Renuka Israni along with Jhalak Thakkar. In a dramatic turn of events Neha Devi Singh who plays Bhumika of the Goenka family befriends Devika and while on a drive they meet up with a near fatal accident. The serious nature of the accident demands a plastic surgery to be conducted on Bhumikas face who now has a new face of Jhalak Thakkar. What happens to the real Devika is a mystery that would get revealed with time." Jhalak, who would be seen in mainstream soaps for the first time says, "I have mostly worked for regional media including films, television and music videos. It's a great feeling to be doing a show like Saarrthi, which is so popular with the audiences. I hope that my character would be appreciated by the audiences and I am giving my 100 percent to it to make it possible." It is reported that Neha Devi wanted a break from the shooting and the new plot line offers her a graceful exit. When contacted Neha adds, "I have been on the show for the last 3 years without any break. Now, with the new plot in the story, my character is on a back burner for the time being and I can easily manage the much deserved break." Saarrthi, which has managed to hold on to the air waves for almost 500 episodes, sees a fresh infusion of drama. Now, the big question about the show is whether the new plot line would propel it to reach the magic figure of 1000 episodes.
