Sahara One’s fantasy costume drama, Kahani Chandrakanta Ki which began with much fan fare, didn’t really click with the audiences. Producer Sunil Agnihotri attributes this to the wrong public perception that this show is a remake of the super hit Doordarshan series, Chandrakanta. And owing to the poor TRPs, the story has been changed from the battle between Naughad, Vijaygadh and Chunargadh to icchadhaari naag and nagin. “Maharaj Virendra Singh (Santosh Shukla) is now shown to be a snake in his past life (character name Jeeva). He is on the move desperately trying to unite with his mate Jwala (Meghna Patel),” reveals Sunil.
And characters like Daku Mangal Singh (Inder Kumar), Kajal ( Shilpi Sharma) and tantrik Bhairavnath (Arun Mathur) are trying hard to prevent Jwala and Jeeva from uniting and getting their hands on the very valuable nagmani. The protagonist Chandrakanta (Shikha Swaroop) will now have less importance. “She is still around and is searching desperately for her missing husband,” says actor Santosh Shukla.
Producer Sunil is hopeful that kids will like the new track, “and for this the time slot has also been changed from 8 pm to 7.30. In fact, the TRPs have also risen a bit,” he smiles.
Not only this, even the channel is keeping a close eye on things. Suresh Mishra, Asst Director Worker – Sahara One Media and Entertainment Ltd, wants the rating to get better. “If things don’t get better any show which began one day has to end,” he says.
Tellychakkar.com hopes the new storyline is accepted by the audiences.
