MUMBAI: In a startling twist for Indian television enthusiasts, two of the nation’s most iconic reality shows Bigg Boss, hosted by Salman Khan, and Khatron Ke Khiladi, led by action maestro Rohit Shetty are facing unexpected delays this year.
Sources close to the industry have revealed that Banijay Asia, the production powerhouse previously known as Endemol India, has withdrawn from producing both shows. The reasons behind this sudden departure remain under wraps, sparking a flurry of speculation within the television fraternity.
The initial buzz suggested the shows might be shelved altogether, leaving loyal fans disappointed and industry insiders stunned. However, in a new and hopeful development, TellyChakkar has reported that the programmes have not been cancelled but merely postponed.
According to the latest update, the channels are now in search of a new production house to take the reins. Once that is finalised, the shows are expected to resume production and eventually return to the screen though not in their usual broadcast windows.
For Khatron Ke Khiladi, the situation is particularly intriguing. Contestants for the upcoming season have already been finalised, with plans originally set for a May departure to begin filming. Those schedules have now been put on hold, with no confirmed date as yet for when production might commence.
While uncertainty still looms, fans can take solace in the fact that the shows are not off the table entirely. With talks underway behind the scenes, all eyes are now on when these beloved series will roar back to life albeit on a slightly altered timeline.
Stay tuned for further updates as this story continues to unfold.
