Manik Soni is a well-known personality in the glam circle, and is usually seen organizing bashes attended by TV and Bollywood biggies. The man also co-owns the team Ahmedabad Express along with actors Mrunal Jain, Ajay Chaudhary and Nandish Sandhu in BCL, a property of Marinating Films and Balaji Telefilms to air on Sony Entertainment Television.
Now, the man is being hunted by the police after a raid was conducted at Manik’s plush spa centre Charisma Spa and Beauty Centre located at Lokhandwala recently. According to a report published in tabloid Mumbai Mirror, the police had conducted the raid after getting clues to a major prostitution racket happening at the spa. As per reports, the police arrested the manager of the spa, Dinesh Chandrakant, but the owner Manik remains absconding.
The fact that Manik happens to be a co-owner of Ahmedabad Express in the Box Cricket League (BCL), raises many questions about the team’s future in the tournament.
Incidentally, two popular faces of TV were present at the spa when the raid was on. The ladies happen to be Shristy Rode, who was last seen in Saraswatichandra and Rubina Dilaik of Chhoti Bahu fame.
Talking about the unfortunate incident, Shristy told Tellychakkar.com, “It was indeed shocking as we were at the wrong place at the wrong moment. Whoever thought that such a posh spa situated in Lokhandwala would indulge in such activities. This tells us that no place is safe in today’s world. The spa usually gets lot of Bollywood and TV faces, and is popular for its services. Rubina and I were at the spa when the raids happened. And when the police told us why they were at the place, we were really shocked. I thank the Mumbai police for understanding us. They immediately recognized us, questioned us for few minutes and told us to move out of the place.”
Rubina too expressed her thoughts saying, “Actually we had shot for the Telly Calendar of Marinating Films, and they had provided us with vouchers for services at the spa. So we were there to redeem our services. We were waiting to take up our services at the spa, when the raid happened. The police told us that they were there to seal the place. And when it dawned on us, we were pretty shocked. The spa has been known for its credibility, and such a thing to happen there explains the sad state of affairs.”
We tried buzzing the co-owners of Ahmedabad Express, Nandish and Mrunal, but they remained unavailable for comments.
We got through to Ajay Chaudhary, also a co-owner of the team in BCL, but he asked us to call him later. (Guess they don’t want to comment on the deeds of the other co-owner).
Manik Soni, we hear was actively involved in his team decisions that were taken. Here is a picture we got of Manik Soni posing for shutterbugs along with co-owners Ajay, Mrunal and Rashami (wife of Nandish) and the popular face of Ahmedabad Express, Sreeshanth (check above).
We also tried getting in touch with Sunny Arora of Marinating Films, producers of the ongoing Box Cricket League for a comment on this, but he chose not to reply.
We also sent a text message to a spokesperson at Sony TV, but did not get any revert.
Let’s see how this would pan out in the coming days.Tellychakkar.com will keep a keen eye on the development.
