MUMBAI: 1. Hows life been post marriage ?
Aahhhh it’s been a roller coaster ride, but a super fun one! I mean I and Akash (my husband) go back a long way, almost 10 years of being friends, then dating and finally getting married. We’ve been married in our heads since a long time honestly. We just put a tag to it 2 years ago. So, life post marriage has been great, in fact we are having more fun now than we used to I feel. We love to travel and eat good food. We have a dog-daughter Stella who was a gift to me from Akash before we got married. She’s 8 years old now. They say marriage comes with a lot of responsibilities, in my case, I feel like it’s the opposite for me, after marriage I have lesser responsibilities because they are shared. Before I was living alone in this city, taking care of myself, bearing all the responsibilities alone. Now I have a family and we work as a unit, so it’s much easier and a lot better. I mean I’m really blessed with great in-laws who are willingly sharing responsibilities and overlooking the daily chores of the house and looking after Stella, so I and Akash can focus on our respective careers and enjoy life outside of the house as well. And about my husband, he’s not just a green flag but the greenest forest. I think I simply lucked out there!
I’m in the best phase of my life right now especially with my music video releasing, it’s the kind of a comeback I’ve been looking for since a long time.
2. the music album you did seems to be creating a whole retro feel watched any films to get it right ?
I didn’t really watch any films but I Googled/Pinterested a lot of 70s-80s Bollywood actresses for their fashion sense and how they would do their hair and makeup, the clothes that they wore, etc. It was Akriti’s concept and she already had this look in mind. We just had to see what suits my face and overall personality best. We didn’t want it to be subtle, suggestive look from the 80s. We wanted to do in-your-face retro, hence the red and white polka dots shirt and the bell bottoms with that puffed up pony tail and the head band. It was all very well put together by the team.
3. what next in terms of shows series or films ? Do we see you on screen soon enough ?
I am in talks for a few projects, but I can’t really reveal at the moment till I get a heads-up from the makers. But you can expect an announcement very soon.
4. with so many platform opening up do you think actors have more ways to showcase their skills and abilities ?
Yes, of course! More ways to showcase their skills, and also more competition to beat. It’s never been easier but it’s also never been tougher to make a mark as an artist because today everyone has direct access to the audience and you’re competing on global platforms.
5. if given a choice television of a web series whats your choice ?
I am open to doing both. I think as an artist I want to be seen, I want to perform to the best of my abilities and do justice with the roles I am given. Ofcourse I would want to do a web series because I haven’t done one yet unlike television that I’ve literally grown up doing for years. All I’m going to say in the end is that I’m on a lookout for great roles, whatever the medium, the kinds that I haven’t done before so I could raise the bar for myself and diversify my profile as an actor.
