Simple does social service

If she wasn't an actress, Simple Kaul would have been a social worker. The pretty Kashmiri, last seen in Kaajal, has indulged herself into social service. On August 23 rd, her maid Bharti lost a leg in a brutal train accident. This ultra generous Sagittarian has managed to raise Rs.2.5 lakhs for her poor maid. "Bharti is in a terrible state right now. Fortunately, my friends and I have managed to raise upto Rs. 2.5 lakhs for her treatment. However, we need more," says an aggrieved Simple . This tragedy has made Simple aware of the sorry state of affairs in government hospitals. Simple says, "We first admitted Bharti to Cooper Hospital as I thought it was one of the good government hospitals. However, I was stunned by the actual picture. Conditions aren't very clean. It's full of dust and the staff too is very laidback. I got Bharti out from there and shifted her to Sujoy hospital in Juhu." Bharti's plight has left a deep impact on Simple. "I broke down when I met her at the hospital. I'm still in a state of shock and depression. I've realised how lucky we are and despite leading a good life, we crib over frivolous things." In this hour of grief, we not only pray for Bharti's recovery but also hope that others can take a cue from Simple.
