Mumbai’s music calendar can never be complete without Snehanjali. The brain behind this annual attempt (since 2010) to spread the message of love, especially to the underprivileged children through music is TV actor (Kahaani Ghar Ghar Ki, Ghar Ek Mandir etc) and producer (Pehchan) Gautam Chaturvedi.
He says, “For the first two years, my event management and production Company, Pine Tree Pictures Pvt Ltd pitched it as an evening of Geet and Ghazals. However, Snehanjali 3 which will happen on 6 October 2012 would be more vibrant and energetic. Going with the spirit of Mumbai this time, we bring to you 'Colourful Songs of the golden Era of Indian music'. This time you will be tapping your feet and asking for more. It will be an evening that appeals to lovers of music of today and yesteryears.”
Talking about NGO support Gautam says, “Every year Snehanjali ties up with some social organization. In 2010 and 2011 we supported Sneha Sadan through this event. This year we support Project Crayons working to empower marginal communities through Health, Education and Rights.
The idea is not just to donate some money; rather we wish to bring in a feeling of participation. We like to bring the talent of the kids who belong to the NGO to the fore; they are the ones who open the show with mesmerizing dance numbers and songs. This gives them the much needed confidence and exposure. Also we publicize and advertise this event in newspapers and online, which gives the NGO the much needed exposure.”
Coming to the singer of this event Gautam says, “Kanak Chaturvedi is a very versatile and energetic singer. She can sing bhajans, Sufi, Film and Non film songs as well as Folk with equal ease. She is highly trained in classical music and maybe that brings simplicity and ease in her singing. Her voice reminds us of the voice of singers of the past. It’s earthy and powerful. More than that she is passionate about her art and also about the fact that wherever she sings she wants it to be in support of a cause.”
In closing Gautam says, “Snehanjali as a social movement has already spread its wings. Apart from annual events in Mumbai we have also organized programmers in Kolkata (Swar Yatra) and Delhi (Revivial) as well.”
We wish the team all the very best for the event and many more such social causes.
