We daily come across new shows being launched on TV channels, but they largely belong to the genre of melodramas and reality shows. And that leaves the younger generation asking for more. But now their wait ends finally! Star Plus is getting all geared to launch the first ever mega sci-fi series - Antariksh. This weekly is slated for the prime-time band i.e. 8 pm, starting 2 October. Antariksh is an exhilarating, adventurous action-fiction of various events that will shape the destiny of the indomitable and courageous Prince Amar, as he fights the ultimate evil, Rankaal in his quest to save humanity. It is the fight between good vs. evil - Amar vs. Rankaal. The story is a war of the titans which is fought with hi tech gadgets, amazing weapons, etc. Some of the nuances of Antariksh will draw it's inspiration from the Indian mythology of Ramayana, however in a jet-set space-age, leap years ahead, of time on earth. Enthused at the launch of the show, Deepak Segal, Executive Vice President, Content, Star India says, "Aimed at our younger viewers, Antariksh, is a revolutionary mix of utopian vision of justice & prosperity, which we are launching exclusively in the weekday prime-time band, for our younger viewers. It's a story full of new-age imagination that will see the use of hi-fi gadgets, which is sure to create a cult amongst them." "With our already established, unmatched leadership in this genre, we are hopeful this show of space-age heroism will prove to be a treat for all the sci-fans, and consequently help us in further consolidating the prime-time slot on Star Plus," he adds further. Produced by the duo of Ashim Samanta & Jyotin Goel from Wild Fire Entertainment, the concept of the show is specially designed to interest the younger viewers on the prime-time band. Fabricating this fascinating subject, Antariksh will be a great action tale of fictitious & imaginative characters living in space. This animated drama will be packaged with intense creativity coupled with heavy-duty computer generated graphics and illustrations, by Jyoti Sagar from Sagar Arts Productions and Prasad Ajgaonkar from Interactive Realities Ltd, which are sure to leave the viewers spell-bound. Jyotin Goel, Wild Fire Productions says, "Think fantasy. Think sci-fi. Think of a story set 10,000 years in the future. Antariksh is a story of valour and heroism, of family values and epic struggle, of intense love and destructive war portrayed against a backdrop of a super-advanced civilization spread across hundreds of galaxies and millions of planets." For those uninitiated, Star Plus' earlier show, Hatim Tai too centered around an immortal children's classic, and it did win it's audience's heart. Will it recreate the same magic? Will it prove to be a fresh breath of air from the run-of-the mill shows? Only time will tell!
