Sudeep Sarangi has had a successful run in movies as well as television. After gaining quite a lot of fame with his debut Tamil movie Kaadal Kondein, Sudeep had reached heights of popularity. However, not many know that the actor suffered quite a lot of personal and professional setbacks which literally brought him down from the doors of stardom to the roads.. In a frank conversation with Tellychakkar.com, Sudeep shared his high as well as down phase in life. “I was a simple graduate who liked to be lazy, like any normal youth. I never took life seriously. My elder brother was into business and at times, I used to help him out during my college days. It so happened that when I was in his office, my brother’s friend who is a photographer dropped in. On seeing me, he offered me an ad film. When I was busy doing ad films, I was all of a sudden offered the role in the Tamil flick Kaadal Kondein alongside Dhanush and Sonia Agarwal. I went to Chennai and shot for the movie; but the interest in acting was not there. But as soon as the movie released, I was praised so much for my work that I felt good. I had all the money and fame; I even bought a car. There came a phase where we simply did not care to save money and consumed it,” said the actor. He went on, “I also had an affair with a girl who was a fashion designer by profession. When I got bankrupt overnight, she left me. My dad took ill and we had to spend all the money on his treatment and hospital charges. My brother’s business dropped and he was soon in debt. That was the worst phase of my life. I was forced to join a BPO firm and worked there for six months. I used to travel in a bus, and when people recognized me I used to hide myself and run away from their questions. I used to cry and curse myself, so much so that I used to be embarrassed to reveal my identity.” And then came the day when things fell in place. “I got a call from a production house and was in no time filled with offers. This was when I got roles in Prithviraj Chauhan and Mahadev. I lied at my BPO firm that I was down with malaria and took a chance and flew to Baroda for my shoot. My dad was against it. But I took this step to give destiny another chance to give me my due. I am happy today with my career and appreciation I am getting for my work.” Talking about his personal life, Sudeep stated, “I will marry when the time is right. I am sure my dad will get me a proper Bengali girl, and at times I feel arranged marriage is much more adventurous in life. As of now, I am busy with my career.” Truly Sudeep, you have miles to go before you sleep.
