MUMBAI: The actor Gurucharan Singh of ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ revealed the true reason for his disappearance. The actor has vanished for twenty-five days, claiming that his close family members were the real reason behind his disappearance, not his debts and the burden of payback.
During an interview with a popular news portal, Gurucharan Singh stated,“There comes a time when you distance yourself from your family and the world. I had been hurt by my near and dear ones, despite trying to get work. I was continuously facing rejections.”
He then added, “Having said that, I knew, no matter what happens, I was not going to think of suicide.”
There were several reports claiming that he disappeared because of his failure to repay the loans.
Addressing that, he said, “I didn’t disappear because I was in debt or because of my inability to repay the loan. Karz toh mujhpar aaj bhi hai (I still have loans to pay). Niyat meri acchi hai aur udhar lekar abhi tak mein credit card and EMIs ki payment kiye jaraha hoon (My intentions are good. I am borrowing money from people to pay credit card bills and bank EMIs).”
During his disappearance, Gurucharan Singh had revealed in another interview that he would spend the night at train or bus stations. The actor from ‘Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ also mentioned that he would wash and re-wear his t-shirt every other day. There were moments when he had no choice but to wear a wet t-shirt. He also disclosed that he had been wearing the same trousers for 17 days.
On April 22, Singh was supposed to board a flight from Delhi to Mumbai, but he never showed up and vanished from contact. On May 18, the actor return home. Following his return, the authorities confirmed that Gurucharan Singh had attended a spiritual retreat in order to deal with some of his personal problems.
