Remember Tejaswini Lonare? The young girl, who shot to fame with her portrayal of the lead role in Sony's Chittod Ki Rani Padmini, has been out of the limelight ever since the show went off air. It seems she is taking a breather from the rigorous schedules of the television industry which in turn has proved to be quite fruitful as it gave her time to ponder on future plans.
"I have just got my new portfolio done by ace photographer Daboo Ratnani. I want to try my luck in films," announces the pretty face who had kept viewers hooked to the historic show. "The next six months will be very tough and crucial for me. I have to prove my worth as an actor and it will also test my patience and will power which will keep me afloat in the industry," says Tejaswini with a sparkle in her eyes.
There have been many television stars who have tried their luck at films and failed. Is she ready to face the unfortunate? "Yes, I know the chances of failure are high, but I am ready for that. If I don't find my ground there,I will be back on television," confesses the actress who has already tasted a dud with her debut serial Chittod Ki Rani Padmini.
But what exactly went wrong with the show? It was launched with great fanfare with a strong storyline and good actors. Tejaswini is clueless. "We never discussed these things in the unit. All we knew was that everyone put in their best for the show. May be somewhere we went wrong..."
The factors however are not deterring Nitin Desai (the producer of Chittod Ki Rani Padmini) from plunging in newer ventures. Says Tejaswini, "Dada (Nitin Desai) has told me to hold on for a few more months. He is going to start two new shows, Tajmahal and Baji Rao Mastani. But most industry experts are advising us against historical shows since the time is not right. I am sure Dada will take all this into account before launching the shows."
Post her maiden show went off air, Tejaswini did get some TV offers for parallel leads, but she declined citing the reason, "I started my career with a principal role and don't want to compromise on that. I want to prove my mettle as a lead actor," says the gritty girl who is also pursuing her Masters degree in English literature from Pune University.
