Stand up comedian Khayali is acknowledged nation wide for his comic timing but very few are aware of his humane side. Known to be a very emotional person, Khayali is now promoting education in his village with a dream of setting up a college in the next 12 years. He is donating money to a charitable trust in his village Hanumangadh in Rajasthan. The place will have a boarding school and a medical and engineering college as well.
Says Khayali, “I could not study due to unavoidable circumstances but I understand the importance of it. I don’t want the kids of my village to be deprived of this necessity. There is a school in our village which is only up to the 5th standard and post that one has to go to the city which is 25 kms away. Only well- to- do families can afford to send their kids to the city for further education and in the process the daughters have to sacrifice their studies for the sons of the families which is very appalling. We too want kids from our village to become pilots and engineers and bring pride to the nation.”
When asked about his charity, the comedian says, “I have promised to give them 20 acres of land where the college would be erected, which will cost Rs 1.25 crores. I am giving the entire amount that I get from movies and TV shows I do and so far I have donated an amount of Rs 20 lakhs. I just use the money from the stage shows I do to meet my personal expenses.”
Talking about the facilities this college would render, Khayali informs, “There would be two sessions of meditation and yoga every morning and evening to stay fit and free of all the ailments. There will be healthy group discussion every evening which in our local language is called Hatai. During the hatai we will teach parents the importance of education to ensure that more and more kids come to the study. The first stage of the plan is completed and now the construction work is going on. I have promised to complete the work in the next 12 years. I want everyone to pray for the success of my dream.”
