She is a professor of Economics and he's the newly crowned badshah of blah -- a jodi made in comic heaven, but surely, opposites attract! Sunil Pal and Sarita's match goes all out to prove just that!
Sunil, the winner of The Great Indian Laughter Challenge, tied the knot on 26 February with his sweetheart, Sarita, who is a professor of Economics at Raheja College, Mumbai. The couple met six months ago, when 30 year old, Sunil was invited as the chief guest in a college function.
"I knew the moment I saw her that she was special!," laughs Sunil. Was it love at first sight then, we ask? "Well, you could say that," says the visibly flushed stand up comic.
"She is cute and above everything else, she is well educated and cultured. She's very understanding and that's what I liked about her," he points out, adding that he will try to take his wife along while he's on tour.
Sunil Pal: "Sarita is my prized possession"
But as usual, their love story faced an obstacle in the form of Sunil's parents who opposed the marriage because Sarita belonged to a different caste.
"Now, they are okay with it! How long can parents be angry with their children? But, it took a lot of convincing," says Sunil.
The wedding was hurriedly arranged. "I wanted to marry yesterday (26 February) because it was Shivratri and today is Amavas....the reception will be held today," laughs the badshah, inviting us to the reception!
