These Bengali TV actors share a sibling-like relationship with their colleagues

KOLKATA: Usually, we share a professional relationship with our colleagues. However, sometimes, our professional relationship develops into a special bond; for example, sometimes, subconsciously, we start referring a particular co-worker as our brother or sister. We also start caring about that person.

TellyChakkar asked a few Bengali television actors if they too share brotherly or sisterly relationships with anyone from the entertainment industry.

Phagun Bou, Gachhkouto, and Premer Phande fame actress Mishmee Das shared, ‘Sudip da (Sarkar) was my co-actor, but the way he used to care for me, only a loving brother would do that. We don’t really acknowledge our bond as brother–sister, but I think he’s been an amazing big brother to me. We’ve played husband and wife on-screen, but the bonding off-screen was absolutely different.’

‘Also, Sujoy da (Saha). He’s like the same-age brother. I’ve done two shows with him, and we’ve had some amazing times on the set. He plays Vikram da’s (Chatterjee) younger brother in Phagun Bou,’ she added.

Farhan Imroze, known for soaps like Tobu Mone Rekho, Care Kori Na, and Kiranmala, shares a sibling-like relationship with three of his co-workers. Interestingly, two of the ladies share the same name.

Naming the actors, Farhan shared, ‘Anindita Roy Choudhury, who acted in Tobu Mone Rekho...although we don’t get time to speak much nowadays, I think of her as a sister. Also, Simran, who played my sister in Care Kori Na, will always hold a special place in my heart. She gave me Bhai-Phota on screen as well. I also consider Anindita Bose, from Kanamachi, as my sister.’

When we quizzed the same to Tumi Ele Tai actor Uday Pratap Singh, he said. ‘Roshni Bhattacharya and Ishani Sengupta, my co-actors from Aloy Bhuvan Bhora,’ he said.

However, things are different for Shampa Banerjee. The actress, who played the role of an investigative journalist in Satyamev Jayate, said that she never looked for a brother in the TV world.

She said, ‘Actually, everybody around is friendly or brotherly in the industry. But you know, I don't remember calling anybody brother in particular or who calls me sister. Since I have my own brother, I didn't search for anybody either.’
