Top 10 scariest Hindi horror TV shows

Take a look at the 10 most horrifying Hindi horror shows that used to air on the various Hindi entertainment networks.

MUMBAI: Walking down the memory lane, viewers (especially '90s folks) would definitely be struck down by a massive nostalgic attack when it comes to old-school Hindi horror shows, which were more fear-centric than focussing on CGI and drama.

1. Zee Horror Show

This horror show was a very popular program in the '90s. It featured short stories in the form of 4 to 5 episodes, each one based on suspense and horror.  

It used to air on Zee TV in 1993.

2. Aahat

The first season of this show was mostly a crime thriller-whodunit with only occasional episodes of the supernatural show. However, in the other seasons, each story focused on the different aspects of paranormal activity.

It used to air on Sony TV in the year of 1993. 

3. Mano Ya Na Mano

The series features episodic horror/thriller stories based on supernatural beliefs. Each story is portrayed in a fabricated and dramatic representation based on mystic and paranormal convictions. Besides, each story is shot in a different location and consists of a different star cast.

Irrfan Khan's narrative horror show used to air in 1995 on Zee TV.

4. Ssshhhh Koi Hai

Many TV celebrities also featured in Star Plus' most-popular horror show. The popularity of this series later prompted the airing of it's spin-off show Vikraal and Gabraal.

This show aired in 2001.

5. Achanak 37 Saal Baad

The centrepiece of this serial was a little known small town 'Gahota', which experienced paranormal activities after each cycle of 37 years.  

This used to air on Sony TV in the year 2002.

6. Kya Hadsaa Kya Haqeeqat

The broadcast consisted mainly of small stories in a mini format. The show stars Hiten Tejwani, Smriti Irani, Gauri Pradhan, Cezanne Khan, Rajeev Khandelwal, Ashlesha Sawant, Sumeet Sachdev, Monalika Bhonsle, Kiran Dubey and many others.

This show was broadcasted on Sony TV from 16 August 2002 to 9 May 2004.

7. Rooh

This series broadcasted one-hour telefilms. Each story focussed on a different aspect of paranormal activity such as ghosts, zombies, phantoms, possessed objects, witches and wizards and sinister ghosts.  

This used to air on Zee TV in 2004.

8. Kaala Saaya

The series starred well-known television and film actor Mamik Singh along with Aaliya Shah, who investigated several mysterious deaths in the pursuit of solving them.  

This show aired on Sahara One in 2011.

9. Fear Files

The show was based on real life of events of people who were the victims of supernatural power.

This aired in 2012 on Zee TV.   

10. Darr Sabko lagta hai

Bollywood actress Bipasha Basu hosted this horror show, who's two seasons have been successfully aired so far.

This is a 2015 show which aired on & TV.
