MUMBAI: Veteran actress Tabassum on Friday asserted, “I am absolutely fine”, shutting down rumours of her death surfaced the internet. The Deedar actress called the news fake and stated that she is "healthy and with her family".
“Aapki shubhkamnaon ki wajah se main bilkul theek hoon, tandurust hoon aur apne parivaar ke saath hoon. Ye jo rumour phail rahi hai mere baare mein woh bilkul ghalat hai, aur main yeh dua karti hoon ke aap sab bhi apne ghar mein safe rahein.”, Tabassum tweeted on Friday.

The rumours of her sad demise erupted after the 76-year-old actress was tested positive for Covid-19 a few days ago. She recovered and tested negative for the virus on April 14.
Veteran actress Tabassum was shooting for her digital show ‘Tabassum Talkies’ from her home in March-end, two days before she tested positive for coronavirus.

The actress’ son, actor-filmmaker Hoshang Govil confirmed the news of her testing negative as he said, "With the love and blessings of her fans, Tabassum Govil has tested negative and returned home. She has beaten the Covid-19 virus and returned a warrior... Thank you for your constant support. God is great.".
Tabassum began her career as a child artiste, working in films like Deedar (1951), where she played the younger version of Nargis and in the 1952 classic Baiju Bawra, which featured her as the young Meena Kumari.
She also hosts the show Abhi Toh Main Jawaan Hoon, which is based on the Golden Era of Hindi Cinema.
