Vijayendra Kumeria: For content creators, there are many more options to show their creativity and work!

MUMBAI: The entertainment industry is going through a revolutionary phase with the onset of OTT platforms. The internet has only added to the revolution. Vijayendra Kumeria says that “digitalization is the new way of life” and we cannot deny that.

“There is a big shift of viewership to OTT platforms and entertainment on the internet. One of the biggest reasons for that is the entertainment on demand and the convenience that the consumer experiences. Also for content creators, there are many more options to show their creativity and work,” says the actor, known for shows such as Mose Chhal Kiye Jaaye, Shastri Sisters, Sufiyana Pyaar Mera, and Aapki Nazron Ne Samjha.

Multiple mediums are co-existing. The audience has too many options and therefore viewership is scattered, feels many.

“Today’s world is about having options. When it comes to entertainment too, people love to watch what they want and when they want. The attention span and patience of the audience is no more like it used to be in the past. For makers or creators it's a challenge to keep their viewer glued and maybe that's the reason that we are able to get more and more quality content,” he adds.

The pace of working is very fast in all the industries including showbiz and that is somewhere causing the unsaid mental fatigue. Sharing his viewpoint, the actor says, “Deadlines are set, and to achieve them you have to work really hard. Planning your day well and working smart is the only option to deal with this. You have to make some changes in your lifestyle and keep yourself fit and healthy mentally and physically or else you won’t be able to cope up with the pressure.”

Ask if he faced mental fatigue and how he personally handles the scenario, he says, “Yes, you do get mentally tired with the long working hours and the monotony of your work schedule but when that happens you have to concentrate on your well-being more. You have to find what works best for you to balance out your mind. For me, working out and meditation is the way to deal with mental fatigue, and of course a sound sleep really helps.”

Post the COVID scenario, there is no me-time left. Professional commitments have consumed our lives. “I think it depends on you how you balance your personal and professional life. You have to set your boundaries right,” he ends.
