MUMBAI: Sony SAB's popular sit-com series Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma has been one of the most popular and watched shows since 2008, when it first aired. The show has a massive fan following and has been on the top for a long time.
Actor Shailesh Lodha who played the titular role of Taarak Mehta in Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, quit the show a while back, which came as a shocker to many.

It was simply assumed that Lodha wasn’t happy with the exclusive contract and pursued other opportunities. But the talented actor who was part of one of India’s longest running TV shows opened up about the topic.
While talking about being in the show for the last 14 years, Shailesh siad, “We Indians are emotional people so we get attached to everything, there is no doubt about that.” Shailesh continued, “I am an emotional person. In fact, I call myself an emotional idiot. I am a sentimental fool. Attachment is natural. And if you do anything for 14 years, it will happen.”
When asked about why he really quit Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashma, rather than giving a straight reply, the actor recited a sher, “Kuch toh majbooriyan rahi hongi, yun hi koi bevafa nahi hota,” The actor added, “It’s not like I won’t reveal why I left the show. I will say but only at the right time.”
A source close to the show however spoke to a news portal and said, “Shailesh feels that his character has been lost among the ensemble. While he gave his dates, there’s not much for him to do. Also, now that the pandemic is over, his kavi sammelans have again started and he’s quite busy. He recently informed the production house that he wouldn’t like to continue. Shailesh has now stopped coming for shoots and is sticking to his ground.”
Shailesh is currently part of a poetry based show called ‘Wah Bhai Wah’. Meanwhile, Sachin Shroff has replaced the actor in TMKOC.
