A page from the personal diary of Purab Kohli I have been getting this feeling of returning home ever since I started hosting Sa Re Ga Ma Pa. As some of you may be aware, I started my career in television with Hip Hip Hurray. I have also been a VJ for a long time with Channel V and it has been more than 10 years of working in the entertainment industry. Sometimes I feel scared to tell people I have been around for so long! But the last five years have been immensely important for me as an actor. Frankly speaking, when I was growing up, I always wanted to become a pilot. Somehow in 1999, while I was still in my teens, the thought of becoming an actor struck me. I approached everyone I knew and finally met success with my uncle. Nupur Asthana, the director of Hip Hip Hurray was his good friend and that is how I met her. I soon found out I had been shortlisted for the show along with 14 other guys! In our second meeting, I just wanted to tell her I am not interested until I met all the other actors. Everything changed and I stayed back for one and a half hours and agreed to play a key character in the show. My life as an actor had begun. And I am thankful it began with a director like Nupur and a high quality show like Hip Hip Hurray. The show may come back with a new season though I do not know when and how! I have never studied acting so am a complete director’s actor. I give various options to the director and he selects the best! After the phenomenal success of Rock On, everyone expected my film career to take off like a rocket! Unfortunately my last film Hide and Seek did not do well though I have no clue about the reasons. Probably the audience did not like the genre. The global recession also upset many of my plans. My next film is Onir's I am. Hopefully, you will like it.
