MUMBAI: Sushant Singh Rajput got his break with one of Ekta Kapoor's most-loved and longest-running shows Pavitra Rishta. Sushant, who portrayed the character of Manav, became a household name. He not only made million hearts swoon over his charm, but he was also applauded by one and all for an excellent performance. As the show grew in popularity, the actor fell in love with his co-star Ankita Lokhande, in real-life, who portrayed housewife Archana’s character. Sushant and Ankita were known to be one of the most adorable couples in tinsel town. However, they called it quits after six long years and their break-up sent shockwaves to fans.

For those who don’t know, Sushant and Ankita were reportedly in a live-in relationship for over six years and were also rumoured to be engaged in 2011. In 2016, speculations about their break-up started doing the rounds on social media. Sushant had then finally put an end to all the rumours and had tweeted that they are not together anymore, while Ankita continued to maintain a dignified silence. Sushant had taken to Twitter to clear the air. Back then, he had tweeted, “Neither she was an alcoholic nor I am a womaniser . People do Growapart & its unfortunate. Period!!’
Later in an interview, when Sushant was asked about his break-up with longtime girlfriend Ankita, he first tried to dodge the question but eventually answered it. He had said that his relationship had affected him and not every experience in life teaches one something. When he was asked if he still believed in love he said he believed in love and would "glide and fly in love".
Ankita, on the other hand, had told DNA, “I won’t say the break-up affected my profession, though. Love and work are two separate things. You need to balance them and I’ll say I wasn’t able to do that.”
Sushant Singh Rajput has left his family, friends, fans mourning over his sad demise. After ending his life on June 14, his family immersed his ashes in Holy river Ganga at his hometown Patna.
