"Why you chose alcohol over me and Ashi?"- Shubhangi Atre on one question she'd ask her late husband Piyush Poorey

MUMBAI: Shubhangi Atre has been portraying the character of Angoori Bhabi in Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai for years now. While the actress has been tickling the funny bones of the viewers for many years, she has been going through immense pain and emotional turmoil in her real life.

In an exclusive interview with Siddharth Kannan, Shubhangi Atre spoke at length about her marriage with Piyush Poorey, her decision to divorce him, her last conversation with him and one question that she would ask him.

In the interview, Shubhangi revealed that she was unaware of the fact that Piyush was addicted to alcohol before they got married. She only realized the gravitase of his addiction after a few years, because she was always busy shooting. She mentioned that she tried a lot to make Piyush manage his addiction. She stated that she took options like rehabilitation and getting family involved to speak to him about his addiction, but nothing seemed to work. When Poorey's addiction started to affect the atmosphere at home, Atre decided to part ways with him.

Atre mentioned that even on the day when the ex-couple signed the divorce papers, she requested him to alter his lifestyle.

In an emotional turn over, Atre stated that she has no complaints from anyone, but she'd like to ask one question to Piyush, if she meets him. She said, "Piyush se zaroor ek sawal mai upar jaake puchungi ki 'Why you chose alcohol over me and Ashi?' (I will ask one question to Piyush after I die ''Why you chose alcohol over me and Ashi?)".
