MUMBAI: Users of the Xiaomi brand of smartphones (both MI, Redmi, and POCO) are familiar with the term MIUI. The MIUI is Xiaomi’s operating system and user interface that is based on Android. It has various features that enhance the experience of a user. The current and latest firmware version of the software is MIUI 13.0.0.6. Now Xiaomi has finally announced details of the official launch of MIUI 14.

MIUI 14 is the Android 13 based user interface for Xiaomi devices. This version boasts to be their most advanced and optimised MIUI till date. It is a major upgrade from the MIUI 13 and has kernel level enhancements on the CPU and GPU level, decreased memory usage, lighter system firmware, and more. Xiaomi has claimed that smoothness of devices will be increased by 88%, while power consumption will be decreased by 16%.
Xiaomi has worked to improve the design of its software with better file management and customisable folders. They’ve even included a new and interactive flowers and pet’s widget that are animated and that can live on your home screen. The UI also has a new feature in the control centre that allows a user to assign Xiaomi accessories across other Xiaomi devices via drag and drop.
It also has a new family account feature that allows shared access of photos and of cloud subscription services with up to 9 people. Data like health tracking can also be shared from a user’s smartwatch to the rest of the family using this feature.
MIUI 14 is supposed to launch for existing phones in a gradual manner starting in January. But people will get to see MIUI 14 earlier in their new flagship devices, the Xiaomi 13 series; specifically, the Xiaomi 13 and 13 Pro.
