MUMBAI:Yash and Gauri Tonk, one of Indian television’s most cherished couples, have been a part of the industry for nearly two decades.
Their love story began on the sets of the iconic show Kaahin Kissii Roz, where sparks flew and eventually led to their marriage. Over the years, the duo has shared both personal and professional milestones, including their memorable stint as the first runners-up in Nach Baliye Season 2.
In an exclusive chat with TellyChakkar, the couple candidly discussed the lesser-spoken challenges that actors often face behind the scenes — from delayed payments to on-set behaviour.
Addressing the issue of producer payments and financial hurdles in the industry, Yash and Gauri offered a grounded perspective. “We’re all part of the same industry, and yes, it’s happened to us too,” they shared.

“But we don’t believe in placing blame. Often, producers take loans to fund shows, and if things don’t go as planned, they struggle to repay.
That doesn’t make anyone a fraud. Sometimes people assume someone is financially sound and invest in them, but if the project fails due to low TRPs, it’s no one’s fault. Ultimately, actors should be judged solely on their talent.”
Their mature and realistic take on industry dynamics reflects the experience they’ve gained over the years. It’s no wonder they are considered a true power couple of Indian television.
