MUMBAI: Popular television actor Romiit Raaj, who essayed the role of Advocate Rohit Poddar in Star Plus' iconic drama Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, has officially wrapped up his journey on the show.
In an exclusive conversation with TellyChakkar, Romiit opened up about his departure, cherished on-set memories, his special bond with co-star Garvita Sadhwani, and what lies ahead for him.

You’ve recently exited Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai. How are you feeling about this goodbye?
“It’s definitely a very emotional moment for me,” Romiit confessed. “The entire team became like a second family. I have immense respect for Rajan Shahi sir and feel truly fortunate to have been part of his production.
Rohit as a character will always hold a special place in my heart. Initially, I was only meant to be on the show for four to five months, but it got extended to nine, which in itself was a blessing. The love from fans has been overwhelming, and many couldn’t believe I was leaving. It’s a chapter I will always treasure.”
You’ve shared some amazing screen space during your time on the show. Who did you bond with the most on set?
“Garvita Sadhwani and I shared a wonderful connection,” he shared. “We actually knew each other before we began working on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, so that made our chemistry more natural on screen.
The audience really resonated with our pairing, and that means a lot. I also had a great rapport with Rohit and Samridhii Shukla—we had some lovely moments on and off camera.”
Your fans are eager to know—what’s next for Romiit Raaj? Any upcoming projects you can reveal?
“At the moment, I haven’t signed anything concrete,” Romiit admitted candidly. “But I’m hopeful and manifesting good things ahead. For me, it’s not just about the project, but also about the people I work with—whether it’s co-actors, directors, or producers.I want to be in an environment that inspires and uplifts. Let’s see what the future holds. I’m optimistic.”
As Romiit Raaj bids adieu to his much-loved character, fans will undoubtedly miss his impactful presence on Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai.
With his passion and talent, it’s only a matter of time before we see him grace our screens again in a new avatar.
