Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma officially part ways after divorce granted by Mumbai court

Yuzvendra and Dhanashree’s divorce has become a hot topic across social media, generating widespread buzz. Now finally the couple has been granted divourced by the Mumbai high court.

MUMBAI: The Mumbai family court has granted a divorce to Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal, and his wife, choreographer Dhanashree Verma, who days earlier announced their decision to separate.

The duo whose relationship has been speculated a lot on social media separated at Bandra court earlier in the day.

Confirming the development, Chahal’s lawyer, Nitin Kumar Gupta, spoke to reporters outside the court, saying, “The court has given the decree of divorce, allowing the joint petition filed by both parties. They are no longer married.”

Chahal got married to Dhanashree in December 2020. But in 2022 they jointly decided to separate and filed for divorce.

Chahal's cricketing engagements in the Indian Premier League (IPL), the High Court's twist came in requesting the family court to complete the proceedings within a timeline, given that the cricketer disease in IPL and ensure no disruption for him.

The mandatory six-month cooling-off period mandated under the Hindu Marriage Act was a major point of contention in the proceedings.

Even later in a family court, he and the judge refused to waive the period, as per the terms that had been agreed to — i.e. Chahal had to pay Rs 4.75 crore to Dhanashree as a settlement.

But both parties eventually agreed to waive the process, necessitated by the suffering of the victims sonthe divorce could be finalised without delay.

Though their journey as husband and wife might have ended, both Chahal and Dhanashree have agreed to move on.

They continue to excel in their respective careers, with Chahal focused on his cricketing endeavours and Dhanashree pursuing her passion for dance and content creation.

As they embark on new beginnings, their story serves as a reminder that sometimes, parting ways amicably is the best way forward for personal growth and happiness.
