MUMBAI: Popular singer and television personality Rahul Vaidya has once again found himself at the centre of controversy after reigniting his public spat with cricket superstar Virat Kohli and his legion of Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) fans.

Known for his candid opinions, the former Bigg Boss 14 runner-up has drawn sharp criticism online after referring to Kohli and his fans as “jokers” a remark that has not gone down well with netizens.

Rahul Vaidya, who shot to renewed fame with his impactful journey in the Bigg Boss house, was widely loved by viewers for his forthright nature, musical talent, and close friendship with fellow contestant Aly Goni.

Though he fell just short of winning, emerging as the first runner-up, he earned immense popularity and a devoted fan base post-show.

Following Bigg Boss, Vaidya went on to participate in Khatron Ke Khiladi, where he confronted his fears and pushed his physical limits with remarkable determination. However, since then, he has maintained a relatively low profile on the small screen — until recently.

Currently, Rahul is delighting fans on the culinary reality show Laughter Chef 2, where he’s paired with none other than Rubina Dilaik.

The duo, known for their fiery past inside the Bigg Boss house, have now turned their dynamic into a crowd-pulling collaboration filled with humour and camaraderie.

Despite the light-hearted tone of his current show, Vaidya has made headlines for all the wrong reasons after he allegedly referred to Kohli as a “joker” in response to the cricketer liking a post by actress Avneet Kaur. The comment snowballed into a social media frenzy, prompting fierce backlash from Kohli's ardent fans.

In response to the mounting criticism, Rahul issued a public clarification, stating that his remarks had been misconstrued and were never intended to insult or provoke. However, the storm had already begun to brew.

Now, the singer is back in the spotlight after doubling down on his criticism. Following reports that RCB fans had sacrificed goats in front of a poster of Virat Kohli — a bizarre act reportedly carried out as a gesture of devotion — Rahul took another swipe, saying, “Once a joker, always a joker. This is so messed up.”

His renewed comments have further inflamed tensions on social media, with many calling out the singer for fuelling unnecessary controversy. Others, however, have defended his right to speak freely and express his opinions.

It appears Rahul’s discontent with Kohli and his fandom is far from over. With no signs of the feud cooling off, this clash between the cricket and entertainment worlds seems poised to continue, drawing eyes and opinions from both camps.
