Last year saw many a big names making their small screen appearances. Although the anticipation was high, the stalwarts failed to live up to the expectations of their audiences. From Big B to Anurag Kashyap, every A-lister failed to sizzle on TV. We round up a list of celebs and their flop shows. Take a look:
Amitabh Bachchan/ KK Menon/ Nawazuddin Siddiqui/ Anurag Kashyap/ Sarika in Sony TV’s Yudh (Endemol India):
Sony Entertainment Television's Yudh was launched with big expectations. With such huge names in the star cast and Anurag Kashyap helming the show, it came as a huge shock when the serial failed to keep us glued. Guess Kashyap's directorial skills couldn't stand the everyday pressures of the small screen.
Bhagyashree in Life OK’s Laut Aao Trisha (24 Frames)
Despite being a one-film wonder, the beautiful actress is remembered for her chirpy acting and striking smile. But when she made her small screen debut with a thriller show, it did not get the response the makers were looking for. The show's premise is good, the plot interesting and actors talented. We still don't why the show failed to make an impression on us. Any thoughts?
Sonali Bendre in Life OK’s Ajeeb Daastaan Hai Ye (Balaji Telefilms)
Another beautiful actress to take the small screen plunge last year was Sonali Bendre. The hatke storyline managed to keep us hooked on for a while, but the anti-hero approach didn't really cut with us somehow. Kudos to the makers for going the unconventional route, TRPs be damned!
Akshay Kumar in Life OK’s Dare 2 Dance (SOL Productions)
The Khiladi Kumar should stick to action shows alone. Even though he put in his hundred percent on the show, it didn't excite us at all. May be a major twist on the show would have helped it gain audiences? We would never know, would we?
Anupam Kher in Colors’ The Anupam Kher Show - Kucch Bhi Ho Sakta Hai
He was candid and entertaining as ever, but the talented actor made the show more about his struggles and life experiences than about the guests. Some episodes were genuinely interesting though. Considering that his competition was with KJo's Koffee With Karan, Anupam's show did lack the luster and the appeal.
Rannvijay Singh/ Raj Babbar/ Prashant Narayanan/ Adah Sharma in Life OK’s Pukaar (Vipul A Shah)
Who doesn't like army shows that incorporate patriotism and action sequences in equal measure, right? Wrong. Well, that's what seems to be the general verdict as director Vipul Shah's ambitious TV project Pukaar failed to create any storm.
Raveena Tandon in Sony Pal’s Simply Baatien With Raveena (GR8 Productions Ltd)
Not every actor can become a talk show host, even if he/she is a famous star from the 90s! Yes, we are talking about the ravishing Raveena, who can still give actresses half her age, a run for their box office collections. But sadly, the sexy siren missed her chance at making it big on the small screen, thanks to the uninteresting format of the show. We do hope that she grabs a cool show soon.
Tulip Joshi in Star Plus’ Airlines (Miditech Productions)
This interesting show's take off has faced many a turbulence because our Indian audiences are not ready to move past saas-bahu sagas. Despite the presence of a former Bollywood starlet Tulip Joshi, the unique love story did not create any ripples on the TRP charts.
Ashutosh Gowariker’s Everest (Star Plus)
Anybody who has watched this 'conquering-your-fears' show has just one thing to say. It's like a big-budget Bollywood movie. We are still confused about the low TRPs of the show, because it does have a strong premise and a never-say-never spirit to it.
