MUMBAI : Director Ashrit Wadhwa is known for his short films like Threesome, Gulab Jamun, and Bojh. He has also directed a feature film titled Kaunn Con haii?, and now, he is gearing up for the release of his web series Kode Lag Gaye Ji.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Ashrit and spoke to him about the web series, how he got the idea, and a lot more...
Tell us something about your web series Kode Lag Gaye Ji.
Basically, it’s a romantic-comedy about a couple who runs away because they are pregnant. They are from Kullu and they run away and get stuck in Manali because of the Covid lockdown. So, they are battling as they don’t have any money plus it’s a lockdown, they cannot go back and there are medical issues. So, that’s the story about.

How did this idea come to your mind to make a web series on it?
It was lockdown and I had read a news about a couple running away. So, I started making a story around it and I thought this could be a fun web series like a mini-series with 10-20 minutes episodes. It shouldn’t take much time pf the audience and that’s what I had thought about it.
Was it difficult to recreate the lockdown situation again while shooting for Kode Lag Gaye Ji?
I have actually shot during Covid, so I didn’t have to recreate it. I shot it in 2021, but the release took a bit of time. I didn’t have to recreate anything as it was Covid lockdown at that time. It wasn’t difficult to shoot also as our location was Manali because it’s a tourist destination and it was shut for tourists, I think we were the only people there. So, it was fun shooting it.
Kode Lag Gaye Ji will premiere on MX Player on 6th March 2023.
