MUMBAI: Actor Avinash Dwivedi, who plays the role of groom Kuber Tripathi in the comedy-drama series Dupahiya, recently opened up about his journey into the world of acting—and how it all started with dance!
Avinash, who's also the co-writer and co-creator of Dupahiya, revealed that he participated in two dance reality shows early in his career. “Ek ka naam tha Ibibo iVideo Star, jisme Bosco-Caesar judges the, aur doosre ka naam tha Dance Angaram, jisme Saroj Khan ji judge thi,” he said. After winning both shows, he received a huge prize of ₹11 lakhs. “Tab maine decide kiya ki ab main Mumbai ja sakta hoon aur wahan apni acting journey bina kisi financial stress ke pursue kar sakta hoon.”
Once he moved to Mumbai, Avinash was supported by his wife Sambhavna Seth, who was also his mentor during the dance show. He began auditioning for ads, short films, episodic TV shows, and even a few feature films. “Ek-do films bhi kiye jo work nahi ki,” he said honestly.
While continuing to act in small roles, Avinash started writing too. “Mujhe koi bada ya impactful role nahi mil raha tha, toh maine socha I will write for myself and play those parts,” he shared. That’s how Dupahiya came into his life. “Maine audition diya aur sabko pasand aaya—producers, directors, sabko. Tab jaake mujhe yeh role mila.”
Today, things are looking up for him. “Now, different production houses are calling. I want to continue this journey. Someday, I just want to write a film myself and play the lead. That’s the ultimate dream.”
From a dance teacher to an actor and writer—Avinash Dwivedi’s story is full of hard work and heart!
