Chhorii review: Based on Female Foeticide this horror flick has few jumpscares moments

MUMBAI: Right from the trailer of the movie Chhorii which gave very less about the movie the fans were eagerly waiting for the premiere date, and today finally the movie has premiere on Amazon Prime video. This movie is directed by Vishal Furia and produced by Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, Vikram Malhotra, Jack Davis, Shikhaa Sharma and Shiv Chanana. It is a remake of Marathi-language film Lapachhapi (2017).

The story deals with Sakshi who is 8 month pregnant and living a happy life with her husband but after a certain circumstances the couple had to go through some rough times and they are shifted to a strange village. But nothing is right about this village and what happens with Sakshi next is something amazing to see.

The story is quite unique and the subject is hard hitting. The screenplay of the movie is very decent but it drops several times in between. Also the direction of the movie is decent and the location covered is beautiful.

Talking about the performance no doubt we are going to witness a different side of the actress Nushrat Bharucha in this movie and she had given justice to her character as the pregnant lady. On the other hand actress Mita Vashisht once again will impress you with her character, Rajesh Jais and Saurabh Goyal were on their part.

The positive point of the movie can be the storyline and the subject which is very relatable and hard hitting, based on the subject of female foeticide the movie is giving a beautiful message. Also the performance of the actress Nusrat Bharucha is something you cannot miss and is the major USP of the movie. There are few horror sequences in the movie which will surely give you jumpscare moment also the BGM and the crafting of suspense in the horror sequence is beautifully done.

The negative point of the movie can be the screenplay which drops several times in between, the horror sequences are very long and at a point your attention level may go down. Also few scenes in the movie also looks incomplete.

Having sad all these points this horror flick starring Nushrat Bharucha cannot be given a miss. Team TellyChakkar goes with 3.5/5 for Chhorii.
