MUMBAI: ZEE5's latest original series, 'Gyaarah Gyaarah' is making waves in the digital entertainment world, not just for its gripping storyline but also for the direction and acting. Directed by Umesh Bist and produced by industry heavyweights Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor, this time-bending thriller showcases what can be achieved when creative freedom meets top-tier production support. The show, an official adaptation of the Korean hit 'Signal,' has become a talking point among viewers and critics alike, praised for its innovative storytelling and stellar performances.
Recently, director Umesh Bist opened up about his experience working with well-known producers like Karan Johar and Guneet Monga Kapoor, shedding light on the creative process that has made 'Gyaarah Gyaarah' such a standout production. He said, "The producers never interfered in what I was doing. They were fully supportive and did everything possible to make the vision come true. Also, a lot of times we hear feedback coming from platforms, but I have to say that the creative team of ZEE5 was exceptionally good. They truly understood and valued the team that has come together for this project. The producers are wonderful people, and they themselves are very creative. They know the importance of independence needed for a director to make creative content.” He further added, “There's a saying in the advertising world: 'Why buy a dog and bark yourself? It's an expression used to ask why someone would do something themselves when they already pay someone else to do it. In our case, the producers hired a talented team and trusted us to do our job without unnecessary interference”.
Set against the mystical backdrop of Uttarakhand's hills, 'Gyaarah Gyaarah' offers a unique premise: two police officers communicate across time through a mysterious walkie-talkie, active for just 60 seconds at 11:11 PM. This intriguing concept, coupled with the electric performances of Raghav Juyal, Kritika Kamra, and Dhairya Karwa, has resulted in a series that's redefining the Indian web series landscape.
