How has Rang De Basanti shaped your acting career?
Rang De Basanti happened when I was finishing college, I was shifting to Bombay practicing Theatre, I was a big fan and I had seen Aks, I wanted to work with him and those were the times when cell phones weren't really a thing. I used to go to his office, wait for hours to meet him, after long months, I auditioned for Rang De Basanti, though it was small part, I was overtly delighted to see the stellar ensemble and that was my first experience to learn how films work, filmmaking and all those technicalities.
Do you plan to venture out from the critically acclaimed characters and do something more commercial?
I would love to be a part of any cinema, I didn't want to become a friend, or heroine's brother in the films. I had to survive so I did few such projects but I wanted to play characters that had prominence in the film and not just be a part of a film. It isn't a choice, at times you have to work.
How has your experience been working with Budhadeb Dasgupta for 'The Flight'?
These are the films that nobody really saw, Flight/ Urojahaj is one of the finest films that I worked in, I am very proud of it, before that I was a part of Tope, I believe you need to have a certain kind of calibre to work with Buddhadeb Dasgupta, he cast me in Tope where I played a mad postman, that was my first film with him and from there he cast me and gave me the lead part in flight. His films are one of the finest films and he is out there with the top 5 filmmakers in Bengal and even the country. It makes me keep my dreams alive that I am worthy enough to be a part of such great films. I would love to be a part of such films.
