Pawan Malhotra has owned the OTT space with his shows like Tabbar, Eclipse and played the role of the antagonist in the power-packed MX Player series ‘Shiksha Mandal’ that revolves around the medical exam scam in India.
The series also stars Gauahar Khan and Gulshan Devaiah in leading roles.
TellyChakkar got in touch with the actor to talk about his student life and the experience of shooting the series.
Since this story revolves around education and school, fans are curious to know about what kind of a student you were.
I was a good student till 6th standard and then things changed completely. I have been so beaten up in school by the teachers because of my antics. I think my ears have grown so big because my teachers used to pull them all the time. And they used to ask me, ‘what has happened to you?’. I couldn’t cheat or anything because everyone would be able to tell because I am a bad actor in real-life.
Shooting in schools and educational institutes brings about a feeling of nostalgia. Did you reminisce about the good old days?
Nostalgia happened but for different reasons, so since I was a city kid, when we went to the villages as children, I would be very fascinated with the way the Tabela wala or the milkman would churn out milk for hours. In this series I own a Tabela and I had to milk the cows in some scenes and man, I tell you it was such a difficult thing to do. So, never taking that for granted, and it brought a different perspective to those childhood memories.
What was your first impression of your co-stars, since you all shoot some really intense scenes together, were there any fun moments that happened?
It was fun. I have known Gulshan for a long time and these are very good actors who are passionate about their work. It was definitely a good experience.
Shiksha Mandal also stars actors Gauahar Khan and Gulshan Devaiah. Gulshan, who is known for playing notable roles in Shaitan, Hate Story, and Hunterrr, is playing a young hard-working man, who is a teacher and runs a coaching institute.
On the other hand, veteran actor Pawan Raj Malhotra is playing an antagonist in the series.
