TellyChakkar got in touch with the producer and asked her what is the one thing she looks for in a project before producing it and even asked as a producer, what she thinks could be the reason why Bollywood movies aren't working.

Your next project is a big budget movie starring Amitabh Bachan, and Parineeti Chopra, how did you decide to produce a movie, as being a producer on a short movie and Bollywood are two different ball games?

I run a production company, we make stories in form of movies for the new India. Before this, I used to run Dice media where I used to make series for the young adult space, and now when I began my new company, basically, I don’t want to limit my self to the format. I want to do work in movies, television, web series. The point is, the story I like to produce, content that has a great story to tell, and that will connect to the audience. I am looking ahead to working with fresh talent and telling new stories for the changing audience.

We come up with our own concept and overseas scripting but we are also looking out for people to bring us good projects and in the future, you will see a lot of varieties coming from us.

As a producer what do you think could be the reason for Bollywood to see such a downfall, as movies aren’t working at the Box – Office?

I don’t think anyone has the answer to why something doesn’t work! The only thing that we can do as producers, is to take risks and we have to experiment as the audience is as changed as today. They have become smart and we can’t keep making the same stuff, and we have to take the responsibility for making a different kind of movie with new talents and the old ones and mainly to find a great script.

I think that we won’t know what works until we don’t put something out there that will click. Once we experiment and change the ball game, then don’t make it a formula and the pattern as to change. The audience was diverse, they want to be surprised, excited, and feel every emotion.

What is the main criteria that you see before you produce a project?

We at Boundless productions, say stories for the new India. So what I am looking for in the project is something very fresh, original, and something that is not done before and mainly that will connect to the audience, in a different way. Even if it’s a simple rom-com movie, you can twist and present it in a different way and you can experiment with the environment. We make it or combine it with a thriller touch. So basically, we are looking for fresh content that will touch the audience and they would feel every emotion.

Natasha’s upcoming projects include Uunchai, a film written and directed by Sooraj Barjatya and produced by Rajshri Productions, in association with Boundless Media and Mahaveer Jain Films.

The film stars an ensemble cast of Amitabh Bachchan, Parineeti Chopra, Anupam Kher, Boman Irani, and Danny Denzongpa with Neena Gupta and Sarika in prominent roles. It is scheduled for a theatrical release on 11th November 2022.
