Exclusive! Samosa & Sons actor Neeha Garg on her perspective towards the movie “…we always see ‘XYZ and Sons’ but never ‘XYZ and Daughters…”

In an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar, Neeha Garg revealed some very interesting things about the movie like her reason to say ‘Yes’ to the project, the audience reaction to the movie and much more.

MUMBAI: Shalini Shah, the National Film Award-winning Filmmaker, has once again come up with something really interesting that will be an eye-opener for a lot of people.

Shalini Shah’s latest project, Samosa & Sons has really won the hearts of the audiences with its storyline and the characters. The movie was shot during the time of Lockdown and was wrapped up in 30 days.

The movie features actors like Sanjay Mishra, Brijendra Kala, Meera Syal, Chandan Bisht, Neeha Garg and Kaushal Shah. While the movie was released just recently, it has garnered a good amount of appreciation from the audience.

Talking about the cast of the audience, in an exclusive conversation with Tellychakkar, Neeha Garg revealed some very interesting things about the movie like her reason to say ‘Yes’ to the project, the audience reaction to the movie and much more.

Tell us about the movie from perspective?

To this, Neeha said that they shot this movie during lockdown with a limited crew within 30 days which was a challenge in itself and in the movie they talk about the idea of equality which according to the actress is the basic core of the movie. Neeha talks about the patriarchal society and the idea that girls are ‘Paraayaa Dhan’ and boys are the successors and says that this is a deep- rooted thought in our society and we always see ‘XYZ and Sons’ but never ‘XYZ and Daughters’. The actress also talks about the change in the society by saying that while Boys are getting a chance to stand for themselves, even girls now are taking a stand for themselves and making equal progress slowly. The actress adds that it is a woman-centric film which is about saving girl-child, equality and brings out a lot of issues related to women.

What was the audience response to the movie?

To this, Neeha replied by saying that while the movie was released just 3-4 days ago and the audience is still watching the movie, she once got a call from the director of the movie, who runs a film school too, telling her about the response from the people around her. The director told her how the audience is impressed by her acting and that she reminds them of Smita Patil.

What made you say ‘Yes’ to the movie and the character?

To this, Neeha replied by saying that she got a call from the director in 2020 telling her that they are looking for a lead part and if she would be interested in playing the part. The actress revealed that she auditioned on a zoom call and was briefed about the concept of the movie and the actress fell in love with it all as she was also getting to work with an award-winning director and an ensemble cast filled with some extremely talented actors.
