EXCLUSIVE: The movie is a generic conversation between two men and it’s not taboo: Director Deeshak Patra on his movie Chai

The movie Chai is winning hearts at international film festivals, and here is what director Deeshak Patra has to say on the movie.

MUMBAI: Filmmaker Deeshak Patra has made a notable contribution to the entertainment industry. The director has made some amazing commercials on television and a few short films. Currently, he is grabbing all the headlines for his latest movie titled Chai, which is getting global appreciation. The movie had a global premiere in the United Kingdom. It is based on a unique relationship between a corporate man and a chaiwala. 

Team TellyChakkar got an exclusive chance to speak with director Deeshak Patra with regard to his journey and his movie Chai.

DEESHAK PATRA ON HIS MOVIE CHAI

The filmmaker revealed that this is a very simple story that describes the relationship between a corporate man and his chaiwala. He revealed that this movie is inspired by Rabindranath Tagore’s short story ‘Postmaster’, and he got the idea to make this movie 5 years ago. The director revealed that it is the conversation between two men which is the highlight of the movie and it is not at all taboo.

DEESHAK PATRA ON THE USP OF THE MOVIE 

Talking about the USP of the movie, the director reveals that the cast has done an amazing job. The dialogues are very special and will enhance your viewing experience. The unique and simple relation between two men is one of the biggest USPs of the movie. He also says that the story is quite relatable, which will surely be loved by the fans. 

DEESHAK PATRA ON HIS JOURNEY 

Deeshak Patra shares some amazing insights from his journey. He expressed that he always wanted to be a filmmaker, and he started at a very small scale by making a few commercials. He had also created his YouTube page, which had a list of songs. Over time, he started getting appreciation and started making short films. Later, he shifted his focus from short films to feature films, and this is how his very first feature film Chai was made.

The movie stars Vikas Verma, Archit Koli, Sanaya Pithawalla, and Gaurav Alugh in the leading roles.

Well, the movie is yet to be released in India, but the director says that the digital release should happen by the end of this year.
