MUMBAI: Shashank Khaitan’s Govinda Naam Mera was supposed to release in theatres earlier this year. But, the Vicky Kaushal, Bhumi Pednekar, and Kiara Advani starrer was postponed. Now, the makers are releasing the film on Disney+ Hotstar. The trailer of the film was launched yesterday at an event in Mumbai, and it has been getting a mixed response.

Karan Johar, the producer of the film, took to Instagram to share the trailer and wrote, “Govinda ek, par uske problems hai anek! Buckle up for this crazy ride filled with mystery, masala, and thrill!”
The trailer has impressed a few people and they want the film to release in theatres. However, some netizens feel that it’s a flop film and the trailer is also ‘bakwas’. A netizen commented, “Another shit flop show. Wtf happened to Bollywood? I think only south Indian cinema can save it.” Another netizen wrote, “The trailer looks really good... Vicky Kaushal is known for playing serious roles, and for the first time, he is starring in a full-fledged masala entertainer. His fans are excited to watch him in a different light, so it will be interesting to see what response the movie gets once it premieres on Disney+ Hotstar. The movie is slated to premiere on the OTT platform on 16th December 2022.
Reportedly, Govinda Naam Mera is the same film that Shashank was supposed to direct with Varun Dhawan which was earlier titled Mr. Lele. However, later the film’s title was changed and Vicky replaced Varun in it.
