MUMBAI : 2022 has been a good year for Gulshan Devaiah. He impressed one and all with his cameo in Badhaai Do and was later seen in web series like Duranga and Shiksha Mandal. Well, currently, he is busy garnering praise for his performance in Blurr which also stars Taapsee Pannu in the lead role.
TellyChakkar recently interacted with Gulshan and spoke to him about the reactions he has been getting for the film, his experience of working with Taapsee, and more…
What reactions are you getting for your performance in Blurr?
I am not paying much attention to reactions, but it’s good whatever little I have seen. Also, I have been talking to journalists and they are saying nice things, so I believe them. I like to detach myself for a couple of weeks soon after the release just to declutter and not to put undue pressure on myself. I start paying attention to reactions post 10-12 days after the release. I have read one or two reactions, and I am happy that people are liking it and watching it.
Is this the process (detachment) you have been following for all your projects or it’s just for Blurr?
Of late that’s the thing. It started when Duranga released, I made that a point. I used to read everything, and sometimes I go into the depths of the internet and find some review that nobody has read or watch a review that has 3 views. You never know, sometimes you can get some interesting perspectives from such things as well.
Taapsee is also a producer of the film, so she was playing a double role on screen and off screen as well. How was your experience of working with her as a co-actor as well as the producer?
Mostly I was in one of the double roles. Off-screen I don’t know how it was because I never saw Taapsee the producer, I always saw Taapsee the actor. I got to work with her only as an actor. Before too I never had any interactions with her as a producer. Mostly, it was Pranjal (Khandhdiya) who interacted with me and my team. I enjoyed working with her, she has a practical process. She is well-prepared, doesn’t take too much time, and is less fussy. She is easy to work with. She had a demanding role and she was also a producer, so she had to do more work. I had fun working with her and even with Ajay Bahl, who is a wonderful director.
