MUMBAI: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s real hero in Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar is Tajdar Baloch whose real name is Taha Shah. He also had a mind blowing experience at the Cannes 2024 festival. During an interview with TellyChakkar, the enchanting actor spoke about his thought process when Sanjay Leela Bhansali bagged him for the role of Tajdar.
He said, "I believe that etne saalo mei ek cheez jaan chuka hu, don't count your hens before it hatches. It is better ki audition process hai, jab tak sign nai kia contract, sign bhi kar lia tab tak yakeen nai hota jab tak shoot na hoh jaye. Shoot hoh jaye jab tak release nai hota tab tak yakeen nai hota. I believe that it has hardened me from inside so that I do not become extremely escatic and be like wow. I know it is good, great but focus. Jitna seekha hai, give in everything you can, give your best and then you wait. The worst thing is when you have to wait, aapko mila hai ki nai mila hai. This is a miracle which has happened in my life".
The actor quipped, "For anyone who has survived 14-15 years in the industry, this is like a price in itself. Forget the adulation, and love I am getting; just being part of it in the lead is an award in itself. Sabse pehle toh mujhe, first thing when I got the role of Taj I believe it was so shocking. Pehle mujhe teen din ka role mila, phir sir ne mujhe tees din ka role dia tha Balraj ka; look test karne ke 2-3 hafte ke baad maine socha tha jab mujhe bulaenge, yeh bhi role le lene wale hai; mujhe wapas teen din ka role dabane wale hai. Instead he gave me the lead role, so I was completely shocked, baffled and taken aback. That moment of time I did not know whether he was joking. Jab mei bahar gaya tha, unhone bola kal aaja look test ke liye, mujhe realise hua yeh sapna nai haqeeqat hai. Unhone sach mei mujhe Tajdar ke liye bulaya hai".
