MUMBAI: Mita Vashisht has been in the industry for more than three decades. She has impressed one and all with her performance in movies and TV shows, and she has also been making a mark on OTT. The veteran actress will be next be seen in the web series Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke which will premiere on Zee5. 

TellyChakkar interacted with Mita Vashisht and spoke to her about the web series and a lot more.

You have been impressing one and all with your performances for so many years. What can we expect from your character in Jaanbaaz Hindustan Ke?

"I play the character named Myra Rizvi. She is the boss of Regina's character Kavya. Initially, when they meet, Myra feels that Kavya has done somethings that are against her principles as a responsible officer. So, it's a face off between these two women in power, a junior and a senior. So, Myra is a lot of things that Kavya is not. For example, Kavya is younger, Myra is elder, so she had achieved a lot. So, theses are the shades of my character." 

After being in the industry so for many years, do you have certain parameters or elements before you say yes to a project? 

"Over a period of time, I have realized that I need a director with an experience, with a good understanding of cinematic craft, who also understands that I am trying to do something differently and sees it. You may be doing something and sometimes they are like 'yeh kya hai?'. They have a set idea, so they are not ready to do something innovative. The directors I choose to work with give me certain freedom. So, at this stage, it is important to know for me if the director knows the craft."

Mita Vashisht further opened up about a project of hers titled Kasaai 

For a film titled Kasaai, I won acting awards. It was a director from Rajasthan and he sent me the script. I didn't look at the script because the film was technically very tacky. So, I told him that your story is good, and you even have a good sense of diaogues, but your craft is bad, so I can't do your film. There were some of my friends in that film from NSD and they started calling me. So, the director then said that he hasn't approached me just like that. He has appointed a cameraman from FTI. So, finally it paid off in a way because with right technicians and the way he let me do the role in a certain way, eventually got me a lot of awards.
