MUMBAI: Karan Johar is known to have launched the careers of many newcomers. First it was Alia Bhatt, Varun Dhawan and Sidharth Malhotra in Student of the Year then it was Tara Sutaria and Ananya Panday in its 2nd instalment. Now the filmmaker is gearing up for the third instalment.

At a recent event, Karan opened up about the 3rd Instalment saying, “Reema Maya will be directing the digital version of Student of the Year. But it will be her way and definitely not mine, because if I will enter Reema Maya’s world, then I will make it more of an illusion, which is what her name means. I just wanted it to be her voice. She made it her own series.”

The series will be headlined by none other than another newcomer; Sanjay Kapoor and Maheep Kapoor’s daughter Shanaya Kapoor. 

Shanaya who was to make her debut with Bedhadak opposite Laksh Lalwani and Gurfateh Pirzada has been stalled and her Malayalam debut Vrushabha, opposite Mohanlal also seems to have been canned.

SOTY 3 will be helmed by Reema Maya and will premiere on Disney + Hotstar soon. 

Karan Johar’s last directorial was the Sidharth Malhotra, Raashii Khanna and Disha Patani starrer Yodha.
