MUMBAI: Post-pandemic, we saw a shift as the audience went from watching movies on big screens to watching content online and convenience took the front seat as the people discovered some unique concepts right on their screens.

While the audience discovered some great actors in the OTT space giving unexpected performances, Hindi movie actors tried to bring the audience to the theatres again but in turn lost the following that they once had as the audience demanded something different.

We saw actors try many ways to re-establish themselves and one of the most popular way became sequels. Recently, it has been noticed with less original releases on OTT platforms that the audience might be going back to the theatres.

We observed the audience giving an amazing response to Gadar 2 wherein Sunny Deol made a strong comeback. We saw Akshay Kumar taking the route of sequels with movies like OMG 2, Jolly LLB 2, Housefull franchise, and upcoming movie Welcome To The Jungle (Welcome 3). Even Ajay Devgn took the route of sequels with Drishyam 2 and upcoming movie Raid 2.

Surely there are many other actors that need a strong hit and one of the actors in this case is Salman Khan whose few last movies did not work so well in terms of collection even though his fans loved it. We can see how Radhe released on OTT and yet did not manage to garner as much appreciation as expected. Even his last couple of movies like Kisi Ka Bhai Kisi Ki Jaan (where he was paired opposite Pooja Hegde) and Tiger 3 (a YRF spy universe movie) which came after SRK’s comeback hit Pathaan (also a YRF spy universe movie) but did not work as well as it was expected to.

Well it seems that Salman Khan might take the route of sequel too as earlier today there were reports about Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2’s script being ready. It is important to take note of how massive hit Bajrangi Bhaijaan was. Salman Khan has many projects in line with one of them being Kick 2 (again a sequel). It is yet to be confirmed whether Salman Khan will take up Bajrangi Bhaijaan 2 project or not but it seems as sequels have really become a way to re-establishment.
