MUMBAI: Fashion is a very dynamic concept that enables individuals from different cultures, religions, geographic locations and even gender groups to experiment with their staple clothing on a daily/ monthly/ annual basis or even at different time spans.
Apart from making garments look appealing, fashion plays an integral part in increasing it's efficiency in terms of both style and comfort. The level of experimentation knows no bounds - just like claiming the sky as the limit! Also, experimentation in any sphere of life results in a self-inflicted revolution, that usually aims at the benefit of the larger mass.
We have witnessed that leniency and acceptance gains momentum with the passing time and when it comes to fashion, revolution was witnessed with girls endorsing pants and denim wear (mainly a pair of jeans) as their regular wear. The cycle did not stop there itself, as girls went on to experiment with their fashion limits by introducing the latest market and demand trends through the endorsement of various other men's garments like formal wear (shirts, trousers, suits/ blazers, tie, tuxedo, etc.), various headgears (like turban, caps, etc.), gym wear, dhoti (with a twist), etc.
With the full-fledged reinforcement of the acceptance of the LGBTQ communities throughout the world, the reverse phenomenon of the foresaid revolution is also underway with men endorsing various women's garments, ranging from a saree to a dress; with the objective to turn all available garments and outfits 'unisex'.

Talking about women's dhotis, they are not really the authentic draped dhotis endorsed by men, rather are simpler stitched pant-versions of the same garment's looks with loosened fabrics. These pants are extremely comfortable to wear in the summer months as they are airy and light, unlike the skin-hugging leggings or slim-fit pants which causes more heat.
These dhoti-pants are usually supported by laces or elastic bands at the waist and are loose from the thighs up to the ankle, where it tightens up to give the dhoti-look. These can be also referred to as 'desi-pants'.
One can wear these pants under casual tees, cropped tops (both western and ethnic), spaghetti tops, long or short kurtis (with or without a churni), high-low kurtis, etc. The entire ensemble can be supported with fancy shrugs or left loose, owing to the purpose and theme of endorsement.
They can be worn for almost all sorts of purposes, be it casually or for performing ethnic rituals, family parties, events or other related occasions, depending on the way it's endorsed.
